Nucleus® X-FCR filter cube turrets

About This Series

Zaber’s X-FCR motorized filter cube turrets are part of Zaber’s modular microscope system. They provide fast, reliable filter cube changes and easy setup and control through the use of built-in controllers.

Serving as the core of Zaber’s modular microscope system, X-FCR devices include features allowing the precise alignment and robust connection of other microscope modules such as Zaber’s MTC camera tubes, MLR epi-illuminators, and X-LDA-AE focus stages. Other features allow easy mounting in upright or inverted orientations with plenty of options to facilitate custom system assembly.

X-FCR devices can be operated as stand-alone units, requiring only a 48 V power supply and USB connection. They can also be daisy-chained with any other Zaber products and controlled through a single USB connection. The daisy-chain also shares power, making it possible for multiple X-Series products to share a single power supply. X-FCR devices are easily set up and can be controlled using our free Zaber Launcher software, µManager open source microscopy software, or custom programs through the use of Zaber Motion Library API.

  1. A built-in controller allows daisy chaining with other Zaber devices, reduces cable clutter and simplifies set-up and control.
  2. A powerful motor and mechanical detent system allow 350 ms cube changes.
  3. A small footprint (150 x 170 mm) provides the foundation for very compact, full-featured microscopes.
  4. Illuminator mount allows direct mounting of Zaber’s MLR epi-illuminators. Adaptors available for other illumination options.
  5. Camera tube mount accepts Zaber’s MTC camera tubes.
  6. Side mounting and alignment features allow the direct mounting of Zaber’s X‑LDA‑AE linear motor focus stage and AB170M quick-change objective bracket.
  7. Plentiful mounting features allow the X-FCR to be rigidly mounted within Zaber’s MVR (inverted) or MSR (upright) microscope systems or directly to a breadboard or optical table.
