NMB-E Series
Brushless DC Servo Motors With Optional Brakes
About This Series
These NEMA Brushless DC motors are designed to connect directly to our MCC family of controllers. Set-up is easy with AutoDetect. Once connected, the MCC controller will automatically detect and configure the motor. The built-in encoder allows closed-loop operation and high precision positioning. A detachable home sensor (HS02) and magnet are included, allowing your custom machines to easily utilize Zaber's simple and accurate homing routines. An optional power-off brake is available on NEMA 23 sized brushless DC motors to secure the payload across power cycles.
Feature Callouts

- High-Throughput & Thermal Efficiency
- Uncompromised Power Across Speed Range
BLDC motors maintain high torque and power efficiency across their entire operating range—enabling faster move times, higher throughput, and reliable motion under heavy loads without stepper torque drop-off. - Quiet, Smooth, and Cool Operation
Optimized for field-oriented control with Zaber controllers, low thermal dissipation and noise generation protect sensitive setups. - Safe Vertical Payload Protection
Optional power-off brake holds payloads securely across power cycles and emergency stops, preventing back-driving in vertical or high-load applications for NEMA 23 models.
- Uncompromised Power Across Speed Range
- Precision Feedback & Immediate Startup
- High-Resolution Encoder
The 16384 counts/rev encoder enables excellent positioning accuracy, repeatability, and smooth commutation. - Maximum Performance on Startup
The absolute, single-turn encoder enables instantly setting rotor phase reference on power-up when connected to a Zaber controller. This allows for maximum performance immediately without running commutation alignment routines. - True Closed-Loop Control
Continuously tracks position to ensure precise execution and eliminate missed steps or stalling under variable loads.
- High-Resolution Encoder
- Smart Controller Integration & Features
- Plug-and-Play
Zaber's AutoDetect will automatically identify the motor and configure the Zaber controller for the BLDC motor, encoder, and brake (if present) — no wiring or parameter entry required to get started. Use our free software apps to make servo tuning easy. - Direct Torque Sensing
Real-time motor current monitoring enables built-in torque data, active force-limiting, and collision detection without the added cost, mounting, or wiring of external load cells. - Accurate Onboard Homing Routines
Features a secure locking connector for direct connection to home and away sensors, unlocking Zaber’s accurate and automated homing routines for custom machines.
- Plug-and-Play
Easy Set-Up
With AutoDetect, the X-MCC controller will automatically detect and configure the peripheral. Zaber's devices can share both data and power through a daisy-chain, which reduces cabling and makes set-up as easy as 1, 2, 3:
- Connect the X-MCC controller to your computer.
- Connect the controller to the peripheral and plug in the power supply.
- Send instructions or automate your set-up using the Zaber Launcher.
