Lockstep Gantry

This photo shows a custom gantry built with Zaber's LSQ-E Series stages and assembled onto a 50 mm x 25 mm aluminum extrusion frame. This system was designed to be easy to assemble and disassemble, with an option for vertical mounting. Both of the two parallel axes are motorized, and are driven together in synchronized movements by an X-MCB2 controller using the Lockstep feature. This allows for high speed and thrust, as well as encoder feedback for slip, stall, and twist detection and correction.
