UBC SailBot is a group of engineering students who are committed to designing, building, and testing autonomous robotic sailboats. The team competes in the annual International Robotic Sailing Regatta and recently decided to take on the Microtransat Challenge, an autonomous sailboat race across the Atlantic Ocean. UBC SailBot aims to foster an environment where students can learn practical engineering skills and be on the forefront of engineering technology by furthering their designs through competition. SailBot is currently using two servo motors, donated by Zaber, to drive the rudder of their vessel for the MicroTransat Challenge.
