The UBC Engineering Physics Project Lab is home to open-ended projects in prototyping and design for students in the UBC Engineering Physics program. Through the Lab, the students have access to prototyping tools like waterjet cutters, 3D printers, laser cutters, the Student Machine Shop, and other electronics and software prototype development tools. Through the year, small groups of students with academic interests in electronics, mechanics, physics research, and computer science work together on a broad spectrum of projects in support of work by campus faculty, local industrial partners, and even the students' own ideas for potential business ventures. Zaber has supported the Project Lab for many years, offering up challenging projects and co-op opportunities; students are also eligible to win the annual Zaber Prize, which is intended for securing resources for the Project Lab and other Engineering Physics undergraduates.
