The inline drive configuration provides the best backlash and repeatability. Switching to a parallel drive configuration reduces the footprint of the stage at the cost of worsening backlash and repeatability. Parallel configurations also have cable connections facing inwards, which is potentially more difficult to integrate.

The standard integrated, 500 CPR, motor mounted encoder provides slip/stall detection and recovery. Switching to an integrated direct linear encoder with 50 nm resolution and stage calibration provides full per-axis travel accuracy up to 10 µm.

If Integrated Controller is selected, the XY stage will use X-LRQ stages with built-in controllers. These can be controlled independently for applications where the final XY position matters but the path taken does not. Switching to an X-MCC controller will keep the same motor power, but allow you to command smooth, synchronized movements with tools such as PVT path planning. The X-MCC is also wired for E-stop compatibility and has digital and analog I/O for interfacing with external hardware.

The minimum number of axes required for coordinated motion is 2. Select an X-MCC3 or X-MCC4 if you need to control additional axes or want to coordinate motion between the stages and additional devices.
