Custom X-RST-DE with Manual Knob
This custom X-RST-DE rotary stage uses a dual shaft motor with a knob for manual control of the stage. The X-RST-DE gear requires a lot of force to rotate, so a larger knob requiring less torque from the user was added. The knob can be used when the stage is powered on or off. Since this stage has a direct encoder, the controller keeps track of the stage position if the manual knob is used to rotate the stage, even when it's powered.
IP65 Rated Rotary Stage
Applications in dirty environments such as machining, outdoors, or washdown environments typically require ingress protection (IP) rated motion control. Shown below is an X-RST240B-AE56 high precision rotary stage with optional ingress protection. The integrated controller and stage internals are protected against dust and water to a rating of IP65 (protected from all dust ingress and low-pressure water jets in any direction). Additionally, the fully integrated controller means you don’t have to worry about designing a separate enclosure to house your control electronics.
Custom Gimbal with Through-Bore Slip Ring
The Challenge: A customer needed continuous two-axis rotation for a new instrument but also required clear, unobstructed access through the center to mount a stationary object. Standard rotary stages include an aperture, but running cables through a continuously rotating stage can cause cables to tangle. Zaber's standard gimbals include optional slip rings to provide unrestricted rotation with cables but this component occupies the rotary stage aperture. The Solution: Our Custom Engineering team designed a custom miniature gimbal that integrates a through-bore slip ring.
Custom Two-Axis Rotary Gimbal
This gimbal system consists of an X-RSB for the lower axis with an X-RSW driving the upper axis. The devices are daisy-chained together through a slip ring, which allows daisy-chaining power and data to the X-RSW without tangling wires as the stage rotates. This setup can easily be customized to accommodate different size working envelopes or be mounted to work with an X-RST for higher accuracy systems.
