RDQ-AE Series

Precision, High Speed Direct Drive Rotary Stages with Direct Encoders

About This Series

Zaber’s RDQ-AE Series products are motorized rotation stage devices suitable for high precision positioning and scanning applications. The integrated rotary encoder allows for top speeds of 450 RPM while maintaining consistent step sizes down to 0.2 µrad. The ironless direct drive motor provides high acceleration and smooth motion while minimizing heat generation to improve repeatability. Both the drive and the encoder are non-contact and have no moving cables, resulting in a high lifetime system. Optional metric stage top provides convenient mounting and adjustable hard stops are available for limited travel applications to improve payload crash prevention.

The stages are designed to connect directly to our X-MCC using a single cable. Set-up is easy with AutoDetect. Once connected, the X-MCC controller will automatically detect and configure the RDQ-AE.

  1. Peak torques up to 7.8 Nm with X-MCC controller
  2. Servo tuning parameters can automatically be optimized for any payload inertia with our free software. Parameters can be adjusted on the fly.
  3. Non-contact drive and direct encoder make RDQ-AE an excellent choice for high duty cycle, long lifetime applications.
  4. 0.01 arc second resolution direct encoder for optimal accuracy and repeatability.
  5. Rotating spindle with 50.8 mm (2") aperture with H7 tolerance provides a concentric mounting surface for repeatable mounting of payload
  6. Optional metric stage top provides convenient mounting and adjustable hard stops for limited travel options.
  7. Holes on bottom and side provide flexible mounting options.

Easy Set-Up

With AutoDetect, the X-MCC controller will automatically detect and configure the peripheral. Zaber's devices can share both data and power through a daisy-chain, which reduces cabling and makes set-up as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  1. Connect the X-MCC controller to your computer.
  2. Connect the controller to the peripheral and plug in the power supply.
  3. Send instructions or automate your set-up using the Zaber Launcher.
