Using a Zaber Stage as Range Extender for the Meca500 Robot

Mecademic Robotics is using a Zaber stage as a range extender for a demo with their tiny industrial robot, the Meca500. This helps showcase to their customers how the reach of the tiny 6-axis robot can easily be expanded with the addition of a 7th axis. With the combination of a robot and linear stage, Mecademic's customers can design compact and flexible automation cells while keeping a very good overall repeatability.
Most options for linear stages and motors on the market are quite large and require external motion controllers. Mecademic chose Zaber's LRQ because it includes the motor and controller in an overall very compact package.
With the help of Zaber's online resources and quick support, Mecademic's application team had the robot and linear stage working together over Python within a few hours.
