Zaber's T-LA series products are computer controlled linear actuators with 0.1 um resolution and up to 60 mm travel. They are stand-alone units requiring only a standard 15 V power supply. Multiple units can be daisy-chained to the RS-232 or USB port of any computer, and they can be daisy-chained with any other Zaber products. The daisy-chain also shares power, making it possible for multiple T-Series products to share a single power supply. Convenient 6-pin mini din cables on the unit allow for direct interconnection between units in close proximity. For longer distances, standard cable extension can be used. Even the power is daisy-chained, reducing the cabling necessary for large systems.

To control actuator position, simply transmit on the RS-232 port the unit number of the actuator you want to move, a simple move command and the position desired. After the move, the actuator will report its position through the RS-232 link.

T-LA actuators keep their position even with no power applied. When idle, power to the motor is automatically removed allowing it to stay cool. Overnight power down with no loss of position is also possible.

Zaber's T-Series devices have an optional knob that provides smooth manual control at variable speeds in both directions for versatile operation even without a computer. The movement speed increases as the knob is turned further, allowing a range from micrometers per second to the device's full speed. Return the knob to the center detent to bring it back to a stop. During a manual move, the device's position is constantly transmitted, allowing you to track its motion with software.

An industry standard 3/8" micrometer shank with 3/8-32 thread allows the T-LA to fit many popular stages. The lead screw of the T-LA unit does not rotate, providing only repeatable linear motion.
