What is a goniometer? A goniometer stage (sometimes called a goniometer table) is a tilting stage that rotates about a virtual axis fixed in space above the stage surface. Zaber's LMG Series motorized goniometers are stepper motor driven positioning goniometers designed to interface with our A-MCA Series Stepper Motor Controller offering high resolution daisy-chainable operation. The LMG60 has a virtual axis 60 mm above the mounting surface, and the LMG40 has a virtual axis 40 mm above the mounting surface. When the LMG40 is mounted at 90 degrees on top of the LMG60, the result is a two-axis goniometer with a shared virtual axis of rotation that is 40 mm above the top mounting surface.
