Zaber Technologies Inc. was founded in 1997 by a group of friends with diverse interests and knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, programming, and physics.
Back then, precision linear actuators were all DC motor with gearbox and encoders, requiring complicated motion control cards, bulky controllers, separate driver amplifiers and power supplies. Precision motion control was expensive, difficult to set up, and cumbersome to use.
Recognizing the demand for an inexpensive, integrated solution, Zaber Technologies introduced the world's first precision linear actuator based on a stepper motor instead of a DC motor / gearbox / encoder, with all control and drive electronics integrated in the same package.
Other innovative features included the ability to control the actuators directly off the ubiquitous RS232 serial port, and daisy-chain up to 250 units without the need to set dip-switches. A built-in knob on the end lets the user manually adjust the actuator, while monitoring the position in real-time on the computer. Powered directly off inexpensive wall-adaptors, Zaber's T-Series products drastically reduce cable clutter. Our advanced motion control algorithm outperforms a lot of bulky industrial controllers.
Since the introduction of Zaber's first linear actuator T-LA28, our T-Series product line has grown to over 178 products, with distributors worldwide.
We design and manufacture all of our products in-house, from the built-in controller PCB and electronics, to the firmware and precision mechanical design. We continuously improve our products and documentation based on user feedback, while always keeping the products backwards compatible.
